So You Want to Write a Novel?

Want to write a novel? Well, timed to the new year, us folks over at novel_in_90 are starting a new round up on January 1st, 2008. What does this mean? It's simple, really: 750 words a day, 5250 words a week, 67500 words in 90 days - no excuses! It's a great comm, with wonderful, supportive people. Thanks to their help, I finished (and started!) my first original novel, and also completed a novel-length fan fiction. It's helped a bunch of other people, too!

So if you want to write, and have been trouble motivating yourself to do it daily, and want some help, who knows - maybe Ni90 can help you too!

I know I'm excited - I'm going to be starting my second novel!

Arthur

It's funny how useful and calming composing my thoughts for an LJ post can be.

Today, this morning, my grandfather's oldest friend Arthur died. They've known each other since they were teenagers - at least 70 years. It wasn't unexpected. Arthur's been in the ICU since before Christmas, and was really only alive even now because he hadn't signed a DNR. However, we still didn't know when, so I'm still a little shocked even though I knew it was coming.

What I'm having trouble figuring out is whether or not I'm genuinely upset about this beyond my concern for my grandfather. ( Read more... )
