Weight Thoughts, Political Thoughts

I weigh about 160 pounds. I've weighed about 160 pounds for around 2 years now (with a dip down to 150). Today, I put on a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in a long while, and they fit me with room to spare. 2 years ago, this pair of jeans didn't fit me at all (they wouldn't close). A year ago, when I was about 155 pounds, they were snug. Now, I'd say they're about a size too big - I can put both hands in the waist line while wearing them and still have room to spare.

Ok, srsly, body, wtf?

I mean, not that I mind, it's rather proof of my supposition that all the exercising really does make a significant difference even if it hasn't had an effect on the scale, but still...oh, I don't know. All this post really is anyway is an attempt to distract myself from the way the world economy is collapsing, and it's not really helping. (Like the way world markets are seesawing after interest rates were cut, or the way that Dow, S&P, and Nasdaq opened down more than a percentage point, though at the moment, they're catching up...wait, the Dow just went positive! First time I've personally seen that in three days of watching the ticker. Of course, that means it's probably doing exactly what it did yesterday, rallying early only to plung 3 percent in the last hour...oh, this article is interesting...). Right! Damn pair of pants!

It is funny how it can be so hard to judge our own bodies accurately - I know from speaking with others that I regularly add 20+ pounds to myself when I try to figure out how I look compared to others. I also know that I think the majority of the people around me look great regardless of their weight or fitness level - but I still grapple with it personally. You've done a fantastic job loosing weight - good luck adding in exercise. The key for me has been to find things I like and that fit well in to my day-to-day life (at the moment, DDR and walking) - try experimenting with changing the standard definition of exercise - maybe Wii fit?
