Wow, what a post! I do think keeping a chronicle of your trip is a fantastic idea. I certainly enjoyed reading this portion. I hear you on the friendship thing- it is difficult for me to find people I really click with too, especially nearby. It is super cool that you ran into someone at that museum though. How often does that happen? The reenactment thing sounds awesome. I'm sure you could find a niche where you'd be able to learn the kinds of things you want, and in any case, making and wearing the costumes is just good fun.
