Lots of stuff...

Well, it's been a busy week, so a general update seems in order.
First, for those not on the Renn Faire list but still curious, a link to a bunch of pictures from the Faire: http://www.flickr.com/photos/keahi/tags/bloomingtonfaire/. The very last one is of us! Though I don't think it's a very good picture.
Anyway...

Housing, of course, has been one of my concerns, but it seems to have sorted itself out in fairly short order. Thank you, huge thank you's, both to those who have given me leads and those who have offered my crash space. I remain lodged with [livejournal.com profile] buzzermccain, who as yet does not seem to be fed up with me. ;) Because I heard it first, I followed [livejournal.com profile] d_c_m's suggestion and got in contact with her mother, Dr. Lion, and will be moving into the place she has. As far as I can tell, the space in question is a patio attached to her house; it has a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen/kitchenette, and a living room. It's fully furnished, including table service for 8 and towels and sheets and stuff, and has a laundry room. It's pretty inexpensive, too, and she doesn't mind if I get a puppy. (Most people don't know, only those I've actually spoken to, that I'm strongly considering getting a puppy in mid-May when I get back from NYC. I even picked up some puppy-care books and have started to learn just what I'm getting myself into. I'm looking forward to it!)

The only downside is, I don't know exactly when I can move in. The current tenant has been kicked out and is supposed to be out today or tomorrow, but Dr. Lion isn't sure that he's going to actually leave, so it might take a week or two to evict him. Hopefully not too long!

A couple things have gone quite nicely the last few days. First, I cleared my credit card debt, so for the first time in at least a couple years, I'm in the green. This was due entirely to the bonus that I got for helping with the grant of doom, and is totally spiffy. Second, I had a paper due yesterday, and I realized on Tuesday that there was just no way I'd be able to get my act together to write it, so I went ahead and wrote to the professor to ask for an extension. I heard back from him not much later, and he said that I shouldn't worry about it at all! If I felt like writing the paper, I could, but he'd give me an A in the class either way because I had been doing so well all semester. I was really happy, it was a big load off of my mind. Professor Meho is the man! I liked him even before, but I like him even more now, it was just such a cool thing to do. That said, I'll probably still try to write the paper, cause that's just how I am.

Well, there are a few other things I'd babble about (I have lots o' people to thank) but I have to get to class.

Oh! And I remembered that I don't, in fact, have plans for tonight because singing was cancelled - stupid me! So I'm probably going to be working on my mask. If anyone thinks they'd like to hang out/work on their masks/etc., just gimme a call or leave a comment. My number is, as always, 812 327 5880.

Be careful, mini-dauchsand's tend to have excitability probs and may pee horribly when you come home from school because they're so happy to see you. (A highschool friend bred them and about 50% had this prob.) But other than that and potential back problems they are awesome little dogs.

i use to have a half cocker spaniel, half dauchsand. use to do this little dance everytime he saw me, but never pee'd. it was also hard to see his feet when his coat started growing out.

I thought you knew how I feel about little dogs...they make me want to punt them. :) No, I'm going to go to the local animal shelter and find a dog there; I don't really care what breed (or if it's a mutt) though I'd a larger dog, particularly of a retriever or "big and fluffy" kind, because they tend to be a bit more sedate, don't bark much, and don't mind being left alone sometimes. That said, I'll just have to see what's available, cause who knows what puppies they'll have? I was thinking that if they didn't have any, I'd look in the local newspaper - it's common for people to have pup's to give away.

There are always quite a few ads in the paper. I just recommend you don't go look at them alone. Sometimes these people aren't the best to interact with.
