Almost There...

Well, the pathfinder, she is finished! She was bitch! But if you're curious, poke at it at Dinosaurs! a Pathfinder. (I finished with approximately 30 minutes to spare. ;) ). Only one assignment left...

Anyway, it's been another long weekend, so I thought I'd do that general update thing that I find I frequently end up doing on Mondays. :)

Life is pretty good. I procrastinated badly getting in touch with Dr. Lion again, though I left her a message this morning. All things being equal, I could be sleeping there as soon as tomorrow night, though that will in part depend on how much time my last homework assignment takes. It's due Wednesday, though, so it can't possibly take all that long.

I heard from the family again on Saturday night. Ben and Kirsten are also in NYC now, doing the familial duty thing, and taking care of mom. They says she's doing a lot better. I also spoke with mom both Saturday and Sunday evening. (Ben dropped me a message saying to call yesterday, poor guy sounded completely exhausted...). She sounds tired and rather woozy, but she follows conversation well. She can get around with a walker, which is amazing when you consider what they DID to her back and how little time has passed; I'm not sure exactly when she's leaving the hospital but I think it's today or tomorrow. She was mostly curious about things with me - probably in part because it could take her mind of things. She's having trouble sleeping and they can't seem to find a pain medicine that makes any difference at all. If I had to guess, I'd say years and years of taking painkillers regularly have greatly reduced how much they actually help her. (this is linked to my theory of why Tylenol doesn't work on me at all, which is that mom used lots of it while pregnant with me. I have no scientific basis for this theory, only the undeniable truth that acetiminophen is completely ineffective. :) )

Tomorrow, I'll go on a date with the boy (my secret!) and I'll get done my final exam for Preservation (the final homework assignment, a take home final that I haven't even picked up a copy of yet - meant to do so today but, well, it was more important that I finish my pathfinder than that I worry about an assignment I still had two days left on. :) )

The rest of these cuts are game related. :) I thought it might help people out (ie, those of you who read this who aren't gamers, or who couldn't care less about the games I'm in...) to split things. ;)

Friday night, I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] kniedzw and [livejournal.com profile] buzzermccain. For the first time in a LARP, where usually I'm enough in character that I don't have too much trouble with this sort of thing, I found myself completely unable to stop laughing in a situation that my character probably wouldn't have laughed at. Poor Kathryn got the talking to of a life time from Dino on why it's not alright to accept jobs that pay her 33 cents an hour. Not that she'd actually calculated it out or anything, she was perfectly content to earn her 200 bucks and make what she'd been asked to make. And that 33 cents is before calculating in that we're talking Boggan labor here. :) Other than that, got to actually learn some scheme type stuff IC, not that Kathryn would really act on such stuff, and got a thorough scolding for my actions last game. It was awesome. Aside from RP type stuff, there was lots of general talk, both Changeling and otherwise.

Saturday was spent doing the usual stuff, at least until evening. The Midnight game was as it usually is - this week, in an effort to be lucky, since, well, being lucky is supposed to be my character's (Reza) thing, I thought I'd try a trick: Fool the d20 into thinking that I wanted it to roll 20's, when in truth I wanted it to roll 1's. This was accomplished by inverting the die, such that 1's were crit successes, 20's crit fails, and everything in between was switched. While this improved my rolling in general, the attempt to crit fail less didn't in fact succeed; I rolled 3 20's that session (though the first one was before I was inverting, so it at least counted in my favor, but it was on initiative, so it was otherwise largely useless). I really have to the conclusion that her luck is more like Karma - incredibly awful things happen to her all the time that would never happen to a person who was actually lucky; every once in a while, though, it her luck bursts out at opportune moments to ensure that she doesn't die. Really, it's the inherent cruelty and irony of every day existence, not luck.

As evening rapidly approached, I was convinced by [livejournal.com profile] sapphohestia, [livejournal.com profile] drake_rocket and [livejournal.com profile] drydem that I aught to go to OWBN Vampire. [livejournal.com profile] mistress_sin is hopefully NOT reading this, for she will never, I think, let me live down the fact that I have engaged in Vampire LARP after years of making fun of her for doing so. :) Anyway, I went a-LARPing, and had a great deal of fun. Listening to what there were the least of in the game, I decided to make a Toreador, cause there weren't really any (I've vampire LARPed AND I was playing a Toreador, I don't think I can get any lower than that. ;) ). Moma's personality is a little atypical, though, in that I decided to model her a bit off of the fuck-it-all attitude sometimes evident in the characters in Rent (if I had to say anything was the inspiration for this character, I'd say that, which is also a little sad, since I don't even like Rent that much. ;) ). Anyway, I had a great deal of fun. Toad is completely the man, and I get to follow him around and laugh at his jokes. I'd say I'm set. I also had a great time being convinced that the Harpy HATED me (though it became obvious after a while that it wasn't me, but Toad that she disliked...) and a surprising amount of fun asking people questions out of the chinese food container of doom - So, vampires everywhere, what is your favorite part of getting older? Heeheehee. Aside from all that, it continues to surprise me how, increasingly, I can have a lot of fun with LARP even when I don't actually have anything to do - like, I didn't really get asked for anything, I didn't really get involved in anything, but I had fun just being around and doing my "thing."

I need to get to work on my publicizing, though. And business cards. :)

Sunday was spent in [livejournal.com profile] deadmanwade's new Aberrant game, plotting my butt off. Being in charge (effectively) of an entire FBI department is a big job! I mean, I'm technically only in charge of the Nova operatives but, well, the actual head is an NPC, and so really it's up to me. There is oh-so-much plotting to see to...really, it's too much to explain. And anyway, there are those who might be counterplotting who read my LJ......:)

Seriously, though, I had a lot of fun. I didn't get to do much, but it's been months since I've been able to really hardcore scheme (not since the early days of the Menzoberranzan game; and before that, not since Yume's retirement...Yume was, for me, the ultimate in scheming characters...the only detail-oriented one in a headstrong group of brash (dumb) care free (foolish) Exalt's. :) Oh, the e-mails I must send.

Anyway, I have about 10 game related e-mails to send to various folk, so I'm gonna take care of that.

Anyone interested in doin' some of that "hanging out" thing this evening? I haven't eaten yet today...:)

First off, glad that you enjoyed the scene. It really was kind of eye-opening how little Kathryn thinks these things through.

Similarly, I'm glad you enjoyed the OWbN game. I've been impressed with it; it's regained its momentum after Brenton left, and it seems to be doing reasonably well.

As to the plotting, I'm totally with you. I should have some plot to feed your way sooner, rather than later. ...and I suspect that [livejournal.com profile] deadmanwade is going to find out precisely how anal I can be about following through on plot.

I heartily encourage eating. It's ... you know ... important and stuff. I'd suggest trying to finish up that meeting of minds between the FBI and the CIA, but I have other plans for this evening. Alas. Alack. Enjoy dinner.

Kathryn thinks "I want to help!" long before she thinks "huh, doing this will screw me!" :)

Alas, I can never forgive you for having previous plans! How could you! How dare you! ...have fun. ;) I'll get around to eating soon, I hope. :)

For now, I'm typing up my vile plotting so that I can send it to the deadman. ;)

Your feeble planning shall mean nothing against the mighty and all-knowing schemes of DR. CHAOS!!!

*grin* You really ought to spell it MoMA. If you do it and get away with it socially you'll earn SO much perk/respect in Cynthia's eyes.

It was fun playing with you on Saturday, we're different Toreador in some ways (I think) but there might be enough in common that you'll be allowed to live. ;)

so. . . not. . . letting. . . you. . .live. . .this. . .one. . .down. . .

of course i read your livejournal silly girl. i believe the proper words for this are "i told you so!!!" and you are playing a torrie!! hehehe, don't worry i feel your pain. just remember, i was once called a redneck tremere by everyone included the prince! you can't get much lower than that. also, as a torrie, don't be the bait!! no matter how helpful you think it is, don't go down that path. it only leads to bad bad bad things. just remember what i told you on the bus last time i was in the city with you. majority of that was the torrie.

Go around and correct people - no, that's with a capital MA at the end, please. :) We are somewhat different, but I do think that, well, we're both Torries, which means we have some important fundamental features in common, ie an appreciation of art. ;)

I like your Midnight character! I think your nickname will be Lucky from now on ;)
