The Week in Quick Review

First of all, to give more advanced warning this time, I'm planning to get dinner before the interlude tomorrow, at around 5:30. I'm think Shanti, cause, well, I really like Shanti. ;) However, I could be convinced to switch to Essan Thai if others were so inclined. :)

Anyway, it's been a busy week, though not, in many ways, a terribly interesting one. I've spent a lot of time working (thank god I'm getting my act together on that score, it was really worrying me!) and have gotten a fair amount done. I need to get some ASPIRA stuff set and in the mail soon, but I think I can have that done tomorrow pretty easily, as long as they get back to me with the information that I requested. Otherwise, well, I can't finish with out the requested information, period. So I'll have to work on other, related tasks instead. I'm passing off another project, the Bronx Science Professional Development Program stuff, to my brother. It's weird, somehow, it's one of the first projects I started working on when mom hired me full time last summer, but now she thinks my time is better spent writing and that sort of thing. :) I guess I need to start getting over my fear that my writing won't be good enough and such, cause I get the feeling that I'm going to be doing a great deal of it in the future. :)

I met with Jim Canary, my internship advisor, on Tuesday morning, and things are starting to fall into place - I report to the ALF bright and early at 9 AM on Monday morning; I'll be going in at 9 four days next week (here's to waking up early...ewww...) and learning to make phase boxes and the like. It doesn't look like I'm going to be doing any book binding, which is a pity, but I'm going to be learning about triage, treatment diagnosis, box making (a more useful skill than one would think), exhibit design and exhibit mount building, and stuff like that. I think it'll be a lot of fun - it had better be, I'll be doing 180 hours of it over the next month and a half. I need to start keeping my diary, though. I also finally got around to filling out my FAFSA (I'm dumb, and kept forgetting to grab the tax information that I needed in order to complete it) so here's hoping, and I signed up for the summer internship class (it's sick that I need to pay $2100 to be free labor for 180 hours; but ah well, I need an internship to graduate, so I guess it's the way it has to be.

After a lot of searching and debate, Sara and I settled on a place to live - The Fields. It's back behind College Mall, and is really nice (though a bit pricey - 1300 sq. ft. for about $1000 a month - don't cry, [livejournal.com profile] ultimabaka...). I'm pretty excited. We'll be moving in on August 7th. The place has a pool, and a fitness center, and a club house (which costs a bit to rent, but whatever)...I'll be most pictures I took of the unit we looked at (which isn't the one we'll be moving into) shortly.

In other news, Jonie is coming into her own a bit. I got her to walk three miles today, and she only flopped down and decided she wouldn't go further once. I think she was tired, because she started wining a lot near the end. Right now she is totally freaking out, throwing her bone around and chasing after it and jumping around like a lunatic. I wish I had that much energy after walking three miles (well, I did walk three miles, and stand a sing a bunch, and play DDR for almost an hour - I had a really good run in DDR today. I think my dog is becoming neurotic, though, she usually has at least a bit of time where she plays, mostly without my interference, and flips out a bit. :) Still, I'm glad to see her acting like, you know, a normal puppy. She looooves her buda bone...

I went to dancing again on Wednesday, and I'm glad I'm doing it - I'm starting to really get some place, like people actually ask me to dance pretty much every one, and I usually don't make a complete ass of myself. Singing was fun as usual, I can't wait til [livejournal.com profile] schenker28 gets back, I brought my mom's Broadway Fakebook back with my from my last visit to NYC, I think we'll have great fun playing around with it. ;)

And I'm very proud of myself, I've gotten tons done this week, lots of things that have been on my list for a long time that just really needed doing. My Pin finally arrived, so I have a functional debit card again; I get paid soon; and generally, despite the suck, things seem to be coming together a bit again. I even managed to get off my lazy butt and write up some of my Changeling BGA's - I've got some orders/requests for item creation that have been pending for some time, and now I can finally get a move on them. Now I just need to catch up on my Aberrant backlog (I wrote my Aberrant BGA too, but I have a lot of game related writing I need to put together, god damn press releases... :) )

Looking forward to the interlude tomorrow; I have a bad feeling lots of bad, bad things are going to happen... :) Now to entertain the nut-so dog. :)

Warning is good! Yay, warning!

Two hour commutes this week are bad. Bah, commutes!

Anyhow. Enjoy dinner, and I'll see you at the 'lude, doubtless.

I will already be at the park preparing to dazzle all with my I AM A MAN routine

Yes! Everyone who hasn't been already (and heck, even if you have!) should go to the play tonight at 7! Or tomorrow night at 7! It rocks! :)

Well, you know, I was kinda thinking I might skip the lude tonight, I mean, it's not like anything ever happens at them...

See ya there. ;)

Hooray on being productive! Good luck with the new place and with the energetic dog...

And yay for ALF stuff! I agree with you on the brutal financial rape that is out-of-state graduate tuition. Jim Canary seemed very nice when he came and lectured for my rare books class!

Yeah, I took a class with him last semester, and I really liked him. He's a big sweetie - like, we talked about the internship for like 15 minutes, and then about our diets for the next 15, it was really funny. ;) And he lots of good suggestions, like that I take photos as I go so that I have nifty pictures for the presentation I have to do in the end.

How was rare books? I'm taking it next semester. (L587)

Crushings and smashings would occur.

Congrats on The Fields place! Can't wait to see it!! Now I get to use you and saracariad's gym & pool, right? :) And it's close enough to Borders that if I get too high on caffeine from a wild night at Seattle's Best to drive that I can walk over and crash at your place until it wears off...

The B'way Fakebook sounds awesome -- we'll have to jam soon.

lol yeah, it's great for avoiding the rigors of driving will caffeinated. ;)
