Origins yo!
Jul. 1st, 2006 10:27 amOrigins has been prety good so far. As in past years, I continue to be amazed by the extent to which I don't really feel like playing games while I'm here. So far, I've only played one, and that was to fill a seat at my friend Kevin K.'s game. The few other games I've tried to get into have been full. That said, I've almost exhausted the possibilities of the dealer's room and art room, so I'm not sure what I'll be doing today...
Highlights of the con so far include:
Well, that's all I can think of for now, I want to head on over to the con now! Last chance, I'll check my LJ tomorrow morning, if anyone else has stuff they might wish to have, let me know! Hope things in Bloomington, and Binghamton, and New York City, and where ever else folk on my LJ live, are spiffy! :)
Highlights of the con so far include:
- Kevin K. and
eviltophat got out of Binghamton about an hour before all highways out of the city were closed because of the flooding. The city is badly submerged last I heard, and they only barely missed the state of emergency. Good for them! And fortunately, most of my friends there live on hills. - I haven't bought any gaming books at all except to replace the MET Changeling books. But at least I have those. I think I got the only copies at the entire con.
- I tried on a gorgeous leather corset. I think I want it, but at how much it costs, I've decided that's not good enough, so I'll wait and see how I feel at Gencon, and maybe get one then. And if I'm still not sure, I'll ask for it for Christmas if I decide I want it.
- I got some nice art; I love buying me some originals. This cons commission turned out so cute, very different my others. (for those who don't know, every con I go to I get a commission in the art room, always using basically the same character description; by doing this, I end up with a whole mess of different artists interpretations of the same set of factors, which has been pretty spiffy so far. :) I've been doing this for three years).
- Apparently I really like painting minis. I've spent a fair amount of time at the Paint-and-Take, just sitting there and painting away. I've gotten better at it than I was last year. I also found and painted a mini for the Midnight game. It's been a huge effort finding a mini even vaguely appropriate for a crippled female dwarven beggar, but this one is fairly close.
- I've gotten two offers of con nookie. This is surreal to me. Okay, the one made while I was trying on the corset I can understand, the corset looked good, but the other? Ah well.
- I've managed to find some of the things requested of me, and I know that
deadmanwade has found some of the others - we've been comparing notes so that we don't accidently double up. We'll pass things along when we get back.
