Ride Thing

I don't know who has to go east for Christmas, but here's a ride offer!

I will be driving to New York City on Monday, December 18th. I will be going via Cincinnati (stopping at the airport) and Washington D.C (stopping outside the cities loop). Yes, I know this makes no sense. Don't ask. I will be continuing from NYC to Boston on the 19th, and then going to Binghamton.

I will be returning to Bloomington by car on December 28th. I will be going the normal way (80 -> 76 -> 70) and I will be stopping in Columbus.

Anyone who would like to tag along on either of these rides should let me know. At the moment, I've got two folk for the trip out ([livejournal.com profile] saracariad to D.C. and [livejournal.com profile] schenker28 to Cinci) and no one for the trip back. Jonie will not be with me, so we don't need to worry about that. I am willing to go as much as a few hours out of my way on the trip back; I WILL NOT go further out of my way on the trip to New York, because I'll already be doing 24 hours of driving (or more) over the 18th and 19th. And that's too stinking much. But people could tag along to Boston, as long as they don't mind spending the night at my mom's in NYC.

So yeah. Be in touch.

If you'd like to stop in DC for a little while, I'd love to offer you a couch on which to crash. I was also thinking of you today: there's a librarian in the History of Medicine Division here who I think would give you a tour and talk about old books with you (he also knows a lot about the History of Books). Drop me a note if you'd be interested. I know that it'd mess up your travel plans a bit, but I think you'd really get a lot of it (and I'd love to see you).

As much as I would love to, I HAVE to be in Boston at noon on the 19th. I have an appointment to tour the school I want to go to. And if stay in D.C. (which I'd like to, the tour and such sounds like fun!!) I'd have to leave at like 4 AM to make my appointment, which would stink... :( Some other time, though, would be awesome! I definitely want to go out and visit ya...

Let me know when you might be able to make it: the Reference Librarian graduated from Columbia's Rare Book program while it still existed and knows a lot about the field. I'm sure he could make some great suggestions, plus he's a lot of fun to work with.
