Last night, hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] kniedzw, [livejournal.com profile] swan_tower, and [livejournal.com profile] moonartemis76, we had a talk about what three books we would want if, well, we could only have three. This has been on my mind anyway because I want to take only a very small number of books with me to Japan. So I propose the meme:

If you could have three books and only three books (not three series, though anthology volumes are allowed) what three books would they be and why (why is optional)?

(I, for one, intend to use replies to figure out what books that I've never read I should take with me on my trip. ;) )

I'm not sure if I think these are final, and I don't have time to write why right now, but my three books are:

1. The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas
2. One for the Morning Glory by John Barnes
3. The Iron Kingdoms (three volumes in one!) by Douglas McKiernan

There are lots of other books that I love, but all of these are "feel good" books for me that I like rereading (even though all three have bittersweet endings, now that I think about it) and all are fairly thick, which'll help keep me busy.

(a) Machiavelli - the Prince, because one day, I wanna be that prince...
(b) Sun Tzu - the Art of War, because after the third read through, I still learned new things, both about myself and how to get ahead. Funny, if I read the thing another one or two times, I won't need to bring it with me, for I will have probably memorized it word for word $

Can't think of a third one...in case you couldn't figure it out by now, I really don't read much ;) *huggle*
