The Meme
Well, I took this twice. The first time was about 4 hours ago, before everyone else posted their results, and it was horribly inaccurate so I didn't share. Now that I've taken it again, it looks slightly more accurate, and I figured I'd share.
Very few of these are things I've ever even considered, or think I'd be any good at, at least in the top 10...
1. Archivist (the first time I took it, all of my top results involved being in construction. I guess liking hand crafts + liking physical labor + not hating math = construction worker. :) This time, it's actually kind of accurate)
2. Sign Maker (......sounds....fascinating?)
3. Sheet Metal Worker
4. Desktop Publisher
5. Cartoonist / Comic Illustrator (I'd have to have some actual drawing talent first!)
6. Fashion Designer (neat! but again, not enough art talent)
7. Pet Groomer (this sounds utterly unfun)
8. Gunsmith (this would totally rock, but only in a fantasy world, not in the real world)
9. Autobody Repairer (um, no)
10. Glazier (cool!)
12. Dental Lab Tech (...but not a dentist??)
16. Conservator (Hey, there I am!)
17. Insulator (what the heck is an insulator?)
19. Miner (Underground) (49er...)
20. Anthropologist
21. Writer (yep, there I am)
22. Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner
29. Critic (I guess saying I don't like working with people or taking orders makes me qualified)
33. Translator (I wish!)
38. Craftsperson
39. Potter (I'd rather be a Black)
40. And finally, obviously, Medical Illustrator
This ties in to something I've been thinking about anyway. So I've been meeting people, and one of the things I have had to do is say what I do. And you know? I've been saying I'm a writer. Because, well, I AM. I get paid - a fair amount - to write, edit, and implement grants. That's what I DO. It's not what I want to do for the rest of my life, but it's what I spend hours doing every day, and I'm kinda good at it. I never really thought about it like that until the last few days...but I am, in fact, a writer. How odd. At least, it's odd to me.
(I'm writing more because I've spent most of the day doing survey crunching, and my eyes are starting to rebel. And my rear hurts from sitting on the floor, since I don't have any where else to sit. ;) )
