Apparently, findings suggest that those foul tasting cough medicines we took as kids (well, I know I took them, anyway) don't actually do anything. I told you so, mom. God, I hated those things, and they never fricken worked! :)

Actually, the active ingredient in the cough-syrup my parents gave me as a child was codeine. So while its use a cough-suppressant could be in dispute, its use as a good time, back then, couldn't be =)
