I have an apartment - lease signed, fees paid, keys in pocket, can move in any time, apartment. I paid a high premium for the privilege, but then I got a nice 1 bedroom in a great neighborhood, and feel none the worse for it in the end.

1 bedroom 3rd floor walk up with pretty much no view it all. It is close to all three of those things, though - less than .5 miles to the bagel, a block to the subway, and about three quarters of a mile (or two train stops) to my mom. It has neither a w/d or a dishwasher - neither are standard features in NYC apartments, though, so that's unsurprising. Doesn't even come with a microwave, just a stove and fridge/freezer. The kitchen is sadly small, but the cabinets and fixtures are new which is nice. It's got high ceilings, hard word floors, and lots of lovely closet space. Once I find the cable for my camera I'll upload some pictures. :)
