Last night I woke up at 3:30 AM and realized that I'd been having a really awesome dream. I couldn't remember how it started, but I made sure I concentrated on it until I lodged a few of the details in my brain.
So Detective Curtis and Detective Briscoe were investigating a homicide. They knew who the culprits were - two stunningly beautiful, rich blond college roommates who were twins. They'd tortured a geek to death and left him in a dorm room with a sign around his neck that said "Notice Me!" But the Detectives had a problem. Before they could catch these two girls, they had to write a detailed proposal in which they explained to...uh...someone the process by which they intended to research the girls, analyzed their histories, describe similar criminal behaviors and tendencies and MOs, and proposed approaches that they could take in order to catch them. The problem was, they were having serious problems getting all of varied, specific information that the proposal required, and so they had to keep investigating. However, things took a turn for the worse when they got a call - another body had been found in the same dormitory room, this one the corpse of a former Russian KGB operative who had been shot in the head...
...and then I woke up.
Clearly, this is what comes from having Law and Order running constantly in the background while I work on my grants. And I'll never know how Bricoe and Curtis catch the bitches, either, or what incredibly clever loophole they will find in the grant proposal narrative that will make McCoy's life a living hell. Damn it all.
I wish grant writing was ACTUALLY that cool. Okay, wait, on second thought, maybe I'm glad that it doesn't normally involve double homicides.
