Do you know what an entorhinal cortex is? I didn't until about two minutes ago. I'm working on my story for Ni90, and I want a really esoteric sounding article from a Neuroscience journal to toss in to my story. I find "Artificial Synaptic Conductances Reduce Subthreshold Oscillations in Stellate Cells of the Entorhinal Cortex." This was pretty close to jibberish to me. However, to work it into my story right, I decide to look up a few of the technical terms. And I've been trying not to laugh ever since. I picked this article at random. Now, for those who don't know, my current wip is about a fellow suffering from near-total amnesia. So what IS the Entorhinal Cortex? "The entorhinal cortex (EC) is an important memory center in the brain." Thank you, Wikipedia. Go, luck, go! Heck, I think I might have just learned something about my super villain's super power. :)

Well, the only person I've shown the first novel to is my mom (and she hasn't even read it, grrr!) but the entire second novel (which is a Hogwarts sort-of fanfic based on a LARP I was in) is up in LJ - I shared it because a bunch of the people in LJ were involved in that game and therefore in my story. Really, I'm just afraid that showing people will work will pop my ego - I feel like I'm not good at it, but at the same time I want to hold on to the notion that I'm good enough, which leads to silly "I want people to tell me I write good but I'm afraid that they'll tell me I suck but I want constructive criticism but...but...but..." It's stupid stuff, really. I'm sure I'll get over it eventually. ;)
