I ended up taking it to a place near where I am - there are a bunch of complications I didn't mention in my post (I'm on vacation right now, my computer's OS is in Japanese, that sort of thing). It looks like it's gonna end up being a bit expensive - probably about $150 - but I didn't see ultimabaka's suggestion that he could handle it until too late.
