I'm heading out of town, so here's the week 5 update a little early. My original goal was to do 5 weeks of dieting, between my trip in June and Gencon this week, and see how things went. So, let's see just that...

Current Data:
Bust: 36 1/2"
Waist: 32 " (when I suck in, but without pulling tight)
Hips: 42"
Weight: 158.5 (fully clothed, with shoes, in the afternoon about an three hours after eating; it was 161 less than an hour after eating, amazing what a difference that makes!)
Miles Walked: 36.4 (this week)

Cumulative Change (Since 7/9/2008):
Bust: -1 1/2"
Waist: -2"
Hips: -1"
Weight: -5 pounds +
Total miles: 215.5

Well, if we look back at the beginning, my goal was to try to drop a pants size by the convention, with an unstated personal goal of losing 5 pounds. And I'm shocked and very pleased to share that I've accomplished both these goals! Two of the pairs of pants I bought 6 weeks ago that fit me then are so loose I can now pull them down without unbuttoning them, and my "indicator" pants, a pair that fits me VERY tightly when I start gaining weight, fit me quite well right now. I won't know for certain how much weight I've lost until Thursday morning, when I'll be able to weigh myself under the same conditions as the first time (naked, first thing in the morning, at [livejournal.com profile] moonartemis72's house...).

Over all, it's been kind of tough. I've not conquered my sweet tooth hardly at all, and while I've managed to conclusively integrate a salad in to my dinner - to the extent that the last two nights, after I ran out of ingredients a couple of nights ago while emptying my fridge for Gencon, I've missed it! - I'm still not eating any other fruits and vegetables. However, my relative success means I'm going to stick with this and see just how far I can get. When I get back from Gencon on Tuesday, I'll set some new benchmarks and deadlines, and I'll just try to keep at it. I think it'll get a bit easier when I get less busy with work again (probably end of the month) and I have more time to exercise. Speaking of which, integrating more concentrated exercise is one of my chief goals post convention.
In short, I've met my personal goals for the 5 week period - I went down a pants size and lost 5 pounds - and I'm surprised and happy!
