Okay, so first off, lemme just mention that from now on I will always label the posts about random crap from the newspaper "In the News," and tag them "news" - hopefully this will make it easier for people to ignore them if they so choose. :)

I'm not even sure how to label today's article, it's so horrible - it's about acid attacks on women in parts of Asia - something I'd heard about before, but it's just heart rending. Read more....

That's horrific. I knew they were setting women on fire and killing them in those countries, but I had no idea they were also disfiguring them with acid. It makes me want to scream. I hope Biden's bill passes soon!

Me too! I'd heard something about this before, but I didn't realize just how widespread it was. That people could so dehumanize other people as to do this to them is just awful - and the fact that it's virtually always men doing it to women only makes it worse. :(

Yeah, acid attacks are pretty common in Asia. I read a story about a woman who was attacked with acid by another woman who found out she was having an affair with her husband.

I didn't have any idea how often it happened! And I didn't know that women did it to other women, too. It's just awful. :(
