Random Current All-Consuming Thought

I've fallen off of LJ land because I've been traveling - first a work trip to DC from Tuesday to Thursday last week - including one of the worst drives I've ever had; I left DC at 4 and got home at 11 PM due to traffic and very nasty weather - and then on Friday mom and I went to Texas where we've met up with my brother, uncle and grandfather, and we'll be engaging in some early Christmas time stuff, though since both me and Ben have declared we just want $$, and everyone else wants gift certificates, it's looking to be a short unwrapping time of it. ;) Anyway, I'll write more of a life update (which at this point will have to cover the entire fall, since I haven't really updated in a while) in the next week or two. But now, I just want to record in writing what I've been saying to anyone who spends any amount of time with me...

I want to go back to Japan.

I really want to go back to Japan.

I was starting to think that maybe I didn't really want to go back to Japan. I was starting to think that, well, with gas prices down, this coming summer - when I was planning to go back to Japan - I should take the money and instead get in that drive across the country that I'd like to do, cause who knows if I'll ever have another chance? But then, while letting some work e-mails catch up to me, I was messing around with Flickr and started playing with some of the photos I took in Japan ... and I really, really want to go back to Japan.

I wonder if there is a way I can do both?

wait for the wild swings in weather caused by global warming to reestablish a land bridge to Asia?

This would definitely work better than a pontoon bridge, which was my current plan. (Refueling was obvious a problem in this concept...)

And I'm SET for Siberian driving, I've got all wheel drive...

Aww, what is your travel budget like this year? If you can figure out people to crash with on either trips, and find cheap tickets, you could do both, depending on how much you were willing to split. Also, having a travel buddy to split expenses helps.

Oops, by willing to split, I meant willing to spend :-P

The short answer is yes.

The long answer is yes, and then talk to me :P. My plans are ambitious, and I'll do my best not to get you thrown out of the country with me $
