Exercise

I don't know what it is about spring, but something about the first warm weather of the year always makes me want to go outside and soak in some sunlight, enjoy the warmth and blue sky, and get some goddamned exercise.

So this week has been the exercise week.

On Friday and Sunday, I decided to give jogging a try. Apparently, I hate jogging, and my lungs want to die. That said, it was good exercise, even if I can't get very far.

On Monday and Tuesday, I walked places. Far away places. (From home to the Lilly Auxiliary Facility on 10th, and then back again on Monday, and to the Wells Library on Tuesday - Mon about 4 miles, Tues about 3). This was more satisfying, but I'm getting blisters, and walking places takes forever.

Today, we finished up our taxes and discovered we have some spare money, so we bought [livejournal.com profile] deadmanwade a bicycle, which he's wanted since we moved here, and when we got home I decided to give it a try. I've never ridden a bike, not successfully (I've tried to learn before). I've still never ridden a bike successfully. His is just too big for little old me. However, since I couldn't bike someplace, I instead pulled out my roller blades (which I haven't used in about a year...) and roller bladed to the library, which went fairly well - at least it's a little faster than walking, and I didn't injure myself. :)

Verdict? Rollerblading = exercise of choice for the moment. It's faster than walking, doesn't make my lungs scream, and still really feels like I've DONE something. ;)

Can't wait until the pool opens...

And I had the scary realization that I've owned those rollerblades for 10 years.
