I Can Has Interweb!

Well, I haven't had the chance to take the laptop in yet, so it might still be fried, and while trying to hook up the desktop, I discovered that two necessary items (the wireless USB and the receiver for the wireless keyboard/mouse combo) were missing - and, since these items were in the same box, it seems likely that an entire box went missing. Be that as it may, I went to Staples, replaced the keyboard, mouse (got a nice one really cheap!) and USB wireless, and now have internet at home again, now on the desktop! This is generally good, and thus in computer land only one real negative remains - the possibilities that I've lost the unbacked-up data on the laptop (which included a whole lot of work stuff and several thousand photographs that I hadn't uploaded to Flickr yet). And, of course, the laptop might be dead, but that's replaceable - the files aren't so much. Now that I've got internet again, though, I can do some research to find a computer place that might be up to tackling the challenges of my import-model-only Japanese-language OS laptop, and hopefully I can get it fixed!

Life, while perhaps still not good, is considerably better than it was two days ago. :) Thanks for all of the well wishes, guys, I appreciated it a lot. :)
