News Analysis: Components of the Stimulus Package - I wish it went more in depth, but still, what it does say is useful on a basic level.

Stimilus package through the House, without a single Republican vote. Sure, new era of bipartisanship, blah, blah, blah, can't you guys even pretend to play ball?

Why should they?

The political logic goes like this: if the stimulus is successful, the Democrats will get credit for it; and if it's unsuccessful, that vote will be used against them in the primaries for the next election, as they play another round of "more conservative than thou."

Most of the moderate Republicans, who might have gone the other way, got picked off in the last two elections by Democratic candidates.
