Feb. 7th, 2009 02:53 pmNormally, I'm all about compromise, and understanding the other guys point of view if I possibly can, but if this quote is accurate, all I can say is that the Republicans in question must live on a different planet. Republicans, for their part, interpreted their defeats [in the 2006 and 2008 elections] as a sign that they were not conservative enough in opposing spending and pushing tax cuts. Date: 2009-02-07 11:19 pm (UTC)(Of course, what they can't explain is why anyone should *believe* the GOP would shrink government, after failing to do so from 1980 on, even if one thought this were a good thing.)
And yeah, bipartisan economic policy is hard to make sensible when one party weakly follows sound macroeconomics and the other party follows what GHWBush called "voodoo economics".
