Well, today, after not seeing a single bug since this started (the roach in my kitchen doesn't count), I caught two bed bugs in the space of 20 minutes - both meandering on my sewing (of all places!) while I was sitting on my couch. Both have now been securely sealed into a glass pyrex bowl, awaiting the time in the future when I may need to produce them as legal evidence of my infestation. See, according to what I've read, evidence of bites (which I have, since I took pictures of them) doesn't constitute proof, but actual physical bugs do, and so I had resolved to contain them as soon as I could, if only I could see and catch them. Both of the ones I captured are juveniles, which doesn't, I fear, bode well for my future - or for my couch, which now has a much greater chance of not surviving this infestation.

Difficult times lie ahead, I fear...

Ugh, I've seen a few in my lifetime, but only once at a time. If there's one, does that mean there's more?

And hopefully they'll do something about your situation. :\

I've got an exterminator coming on April 1st, my landlord is covering the expense. It's just a pain...I've been getting bites for just over a week, so I knew there was a problem, but I hadn't seen a bug until today...

Again, sorry you're dealing with this. It does seem as if the landlord should have warned you beforehand, doesn't it? Hopefully you can talk him into new furnishings, since it seems as if your mattress and couch (at least!) will either be permanently infested or permanently toxic.

I also kind of wish my landlord warned me. Sadly, though, landlords in NYC are (by and large) evil money grubbing corporate monstrosities, so I'm not all that surprised that they didn't. Now that I've got the dead bugs in a jar, though, I'm in a much better position to fight tooth and nail for the replacement of any furniture I'll have to throw away.

That's awful. I had a mouse infestation last fall. It was gross and annoying. They finally quit coming in the house after my kittens kept catching them.

My landlord had to put poison in the attic which I don't like, but they were field mice and those things are crazy.

Mice infestations suck, too. I had a mouse once who was able to climb up "mouse proof" industrial shelving, and when thus surrounded by a plethora of food options including cereal, flour, dried pasta, and more...opted to eat my peeps.

Damn mice.

Damn bed bugs. They're gonna have to poison my home, too, and I agree, I don't like it one bit. Still, it sounds like ultimately you got rid of your mice - hopefully I'll have equal luck! ;)
