Still Standin' Taxodermy

Well, it's been a busy weekend, so I thought I'd type up that "all the stuff I did" sort of thing. However, I've been up since 4:30 this morning and only got 4 hours of sleep, so it might be a bit disfunctional. More so than normal. Don't worry about it too much.
Spent most of Friday working on school work so that I'd be a bit ahead coming into this week. Then spent the evening gaming, woot. Finally (after a month off) got back to
drake_rocket's GURPs game, which was spiffy. It was amusing that our consistent good rolling foiled the intended time line of the plot. Obviously, we're all totally awesome, and now we get to take out killer Soviet/Russian robots, unless, of course, their machine guns take us out instead. But we'll find that out tomorrow. :)
Saturday we resumed the high school game during the day before the party. It was spiffy (though I was a little out of it, which was annoying) and full of angsty deliciousness. Being Val for a day was totally spiffy, and I know it had a pretty major affect on how Ash views things - that said, I have the funny feeling that Val doesn't feel the same way. Still, my favorite point was when Ash (in Val's body) realized that everyone was concerned about Val (Seth hugging and comforting a crying Val, and asking Ash to come and help her being the worst, but then just having it driven in at every available opportunity for half the day...) and no one seemed particularly concerned about her. That, and when Seth started to leave, and...yeah, I'll stop. :) I had a lot of fun, though, thanks everyone! :)
After that was the party. It was much fun and I did much dancing. Again, though, I was still out of it, and so got tired early and didn't have as much fun as I had hoped - it was irritating, really, cause I wanted to have fun, and it was no ones fault but my own that I didn't have that much (don't get me wrong, I still had fun, but just not as much as I had hoped to...). Oh, and congrats again to
kniedzw and
theswantower. :)
Sunday, of course, was the Changeling game. I had really hoped that Kathryn could get through a day that didn't suck in some fashion, but it wasn't to be because Diezel is a bitch - yeah, I said it - who is using a poor, gullible boggan for her own cruel redcap ends. That said, it was a strange combination of times when I had far too much to do and times where I had too little to do. I was surprised by how upset I was when Leander was killed (I was close to crying!) and I couldn't help feeling that one life didn't really repay another. However, that bit of thought didn't last that long, as Kathryn got a talking to about the nature of revenge from the (now) Count, and agreed wholeheartedly that her views on these things would be vastly affected if the revenge was for someone she had cared about a great deal - and just picturing made Kathryn angry enough that she completely agreed, and has a much better understandng of revenge than she did before. If only she'd had that conversation before the trial, she might have shocked everyone who thinks of her as tender hearted by voting "guilty." The trial was a tough one for her, really...she really isn't good juror material. Meanwhile, I had excellent scenes with
drake_rocket,
saracariad,
cihuacoatl, and others. The main one I neglected to nom yesterday was darling Grendel, who (aside from making more than one pass at me...) also spent a fair amount of time trying to convince me that the sidhe were the source of all of our problems. Over all, yesterday was really a test of Kathryn's gullibility - she was gullible enough to believe Diezel without questioning, but not gullible enough to decide to worship a god of the apocalypse without checking if it was a good idea with others. :) There's much more I could write (like I got to talk to
kniedzw after the game, and mentioned that while working on the project that night, Kathryn would ask Dino out on a date - and she called it a date - and he accepted! Here's to filing paper work for romantic entanglement! mentioning that,
drydem was totally fricken awesome as the knocker auditor-specific.)
That was a long paragraph. :)
So yeah, thanks to everyone, it was much fun! I wish that it was possible to just nom the whole game. Cause I've never seen anyone suck, really.
Oh, and another favorite moment was Vlad telling off everyone who rushed up to the Count. I was like, oh god, scary Sidhe! :)
Woke up extra early (well, I meant to woke up at 6:30...oh well) then went to campus for the field trip to Heckman Bindery. I thought the bindery was pretty awesome, but I won't bore normal people with the details. However, a few highlights:
-a housing complex advertising itself with the sign, "Great Ocean Views! Just kidding."
-the people who worked in the bindery giving us dirty, dirty looks - it looked like a sad, mindless job.
-the cruel efficiency of a plant that binds 30,000 books a week.
-realizing that despite the cruelty and the boredom, thinking it looked interesting
-spoke to my professor (who is a conservator) about potentially doing an internship with him, and he seemed interested, so I'll talk to him more about it after class next Monday. He said I'd have to pick a specific conservation skill to learn; I was thinking binding, but I'm not sure. (this conversation was the highlight of my day, really)
-a sign on the way home for "Still Standin' Taxidermy. Done in 60 days or your money back!" with a vivid picture of some deer. It was awesome.
And now I'm GMing. I didn't prep at all :( but I can fake it for a few hours. And then I'll fall over exhausted and work tomorrow. :)
This is more of an aside, I was thinking about it in the car earlier today. I've noticed some people spend a lot of time out of game time doing in character stuff, and some people don't. I have yet to figure out who is interested in doing so, though, and who isn't, and I don't want to be forward. And I realized that people wouldn't know if I was interested, since I never showed much interest. So I thought I'd mention that I'll happily spend time rping with people in any game. This goes for the players in my game, or
xaniquen if he wants to talk to Valanna, as much as it goes for Changeling and Hogwarts and stuff. So yeah, that's me. That said, I'm frequently busy, and therefore am most definitely more available over e-mail than other means. :)
Anyway, long update, but it's been a long weekend. ;) Hope everyone had fun!
