Well, internet connection is still problematic, but I thought I'd give a bit of an update.
Monday and Tuesday were mostly spend getting done for the semester. I did my take home final on Tues, wrote my pathfinder on Mon, and generally tried to not completely blow it. :) It looks like I've succeeded in that attempt - grades aren't all posted yet, but I got an A in the class the pathfinder was for - I was a little worried about that one (as in, I wasn't sure that I'd gotten an A, not that I thought that I'd messed it up on any massive scale) - and I passed L401 (computers are fun! stupid ass required class...) which isn't really all that difficult to do. My other two grades are pending, though I know I got an A in 651 cause Prof. Meho told me. That just leaves one...fingers crossed for my second semester of 4.0...:)
Mom is doing steadily better. They got her out of the hospital on Tuesday night, and my brother was with her for most of the week. He left yesterday, and now my uncle is there again. He and I had a talk earlier, which was nice, cause we don't end up talking much cause he lives in Texas. Apparently, mom's hospital experience was really terrible over all, though she doesn't talk about it much cause she was too out of it to remember. Still, Jeremy was really shocked by the low quality of hospital care in this country. He's thinking about writing up a little paper about it. (He's a scientist and professor, but he writes grants and papers and stuff pretty frequently)
I'm getting a little nervous about the trip to NYC that'll be taking place soon. I like flying. :)
Tuesday evening I had an sadly abortive attempt at a date, when, after the meal, every place I tried to take
deadmanwade, something went wrong. First, I lost my driver's license (it turned up on Thursday, thank god) and so we couldn't play pool. My feet hurt really bad from breaking in new shoes, so I couldn't do walking things, and the minigolf course didn't take checks, grr, but we finally aborted. I felt bad, but it happens I guess. :)
A lot of time has also been spent hanging out with folk.
buzzermccain,
closetgnome and I spent far too much time playing DDR on Wednesday and Thursday. It was way fun, though me legs made me regret it afterwards. :) Course, my legs are sad in general - I've been walking more than a mile a day on average - as many as 4 in one day, on Saturday - and my legs are like, "we want a day off!" :) But I don't want to stop, cause it's been so sunny. Anyway, on Wednesday we also watched "Dark Water," which is the first horror flick that I've seen from beginning to end with the sound on (I've seen the Exorcist from beginning to end, but the sound was off cause it was at a party, and there were no subtitles...). I was distinctly unimpressed, though, mostly cause it wasn't a very good movie. I mean, it had some good build up, but it just didn't really go anywhere. It was disappointing - I've been afraid to see horror movies for a long time, and it was just so blah. Amusingly, after the movie we talked about Ju-on (the Grudge) and the Ring, and just the stuff they told me about those two was scarier than anything that happened in Dark Water, and had me spooked about creeping Japanese ghosts and creepy-ass little boys. :) I think I'd like to try to see some actual horror movies at some point.
Other hanging out included a viewing of the first Star Wars movie on Saturday, which I haven't seen since the rerelease all those years. Wednesday, people got together and watched Anastasia, which I also hadn't seen in years, and I've had the music in my head ever since...there was also Apples to Apples playing, which is always fun. ;)
Well, I gotta go - the reports on various gaming type stuff (Friday night, Saturday during the day, and Sunday) will have to wait. :) Off to dinner!!
