The difficulty with interludes is remembering what happened in them and when! Still, I promised almost two months ago that the next installment would be the January and February interludes, and since I really do want to get this done (I find it so depressing how much I've forgotten about games from the past - if I can only get the time, I should start doing a private post a night just so that I can start getting it all out of my head and onto paper before it all goes away!) before I forget more.

After Yule, Laughing Tom came up to Kathryn on the street. She barely knew him, but he came up to her and thanked her, to her great puzzlement, and explained that she had probably saved Lexander Lugnut's life - which she found distinctly odd, given that she had no fondness for Lex.

Tom explained, though, that he had been about to lose it completely, but the sight of Kathryn going around so happily, giving people Yule presents, smiling, cheerful and happy, had given him hope in a way that little else had of late. She had, quite simply, reminded him of what he had to fight for. Kathryn was truly touched, and returned his thanks with thanks of her own. Tom seemed much less scary after that, though still, fundamentally, a big tough troll. :)

January's game was the Conchordia game, so there was only an interlude. I don't remember all that much about what happened except for Pinnochio's troubles.

So Pinnochio, our favorite little childing boggan, pulls Kathryn aside and asks to talk to her. Always interested in helping, she agrees immediate. Pinnochio then tells a truly tear-wrenching story about what's been happening to him: the dauntain have been kidnapping him, they've killed his sister, and they keep questioning him and otherwise abusing him. Alarmed, Kathryn tried to get him to seek help from someone, anyone, but Pinnochio refuses. He explains that the main thing on his mind is that he is worried that Kathryn is in danger - the dauntain have been asking questions about her in particular. She tries to find out why, but he doesn't know. He refuses to let her go for help of any sort, though. Finally, unsure what else she can do, Kathryn makes him promise that, in the future, if they ask about her he should tell them whatever they want to know about her - she couldn't bear the thought of him getting hurt to protect her (Kathryn is not the type of boggan to use a 10 year old kid to protect herself!). She also extracts the promise from him that he will keep in regular contact with her. He begs for her silence, and she agrees to give it on the condition that if he doesn't report in every week, she's going straight to Kaye and telling her everything. With that, they part ways.

However, Kathryn is greatly troubled by this, so she goes to speak to the Baron. Unsure exactly how to phrase things, she explains that she fears that someone is in danger, but she has promised not to speak about it, and doesn't know what to do. The Baron assures her that promise isn't the same thing as an oath made on the dreaming - but Kathryn still tries to keep it. Still, she manages to give enough hints that the Baron is able to determine what events she is referring to, and he assures her that someone is working on it, that Azraphael is trying to help, and that Lady Nyx was largely responsible for the death of Pinnochio's sister. Distressed by this knowledge, Kathryn keeps her promise nonetheless by doing nothing other than confirming - even knowing that handling it as such completely conceals the danger that she herself might be in. Reassured, though, that someone was seeing to it, she went about her business.

Because of preparation for the Parliament of the Apocalypse game, which took place in early February, [livejournal.com profile] kniezdw wasn't available for scenes in January. However, come February the time finally came to RP out the movie date, which I've already described elsewhere - though siad post makes that conversation seem shorter than it actually was.

After about two weeks of keeping quiet and rather avoiding Dino (she couldn't seem to work up the nerve to ask him out on another date) she finally decided that she had to break her promise to Pinnochio. She felt bad about it, but she was afraid of what might happen if she kept her mouth shut. So, rather nervously, she told Dino everything that Pinnochio had said to her - including that the dauntain had asked about her - and, alarmed, he insisted on going and talking to the Baron despite Kathryn's assurances that the Baron knew. However, it ended up not being that big a deal, and Dino didn't even mention her being in danger! Sigh. :)

Over the past few months, Kathryn had gotten to know the Count's lions better and better. Though they seemed frequently tempted to use her as a kitty toy (indeed, Dino, when he heard about this, insisted on making her a temporary charm to protect her). However, over time they warmed to her, and soon Kathryn had taken over the feeding and care of Argent and his pack from the current boggan responsible. She really grew to love those lions, and happily made the 30 minute trod journey to Ardendale and back every day to lavish attention on them.

In between games, the Balor, in a continued attempt to force Torn the redcap back into their service, put prices on the heads of people he cared about, including Kaye, Dino and Willowgrove itself. Amelie was later added to the list. Truly alarmed, Kathryn started keeping a closer eye on those she cared about.

I don't really want to do more now, but I wrote up this basic timeline to help me not forget important bits. I imagine I'll be adding to it as I remember more stuff. Hopefully I can get this all done relatively shortly.
