Well, it takes a special kind of talent to screw up quite like this. So I got an appointment with a vet on N. Smith - a road right near my house, where I knew there was a vet. And I head over there bright and early this morning, pup in tow. And I get there. And they don't have a record of my appointment. I grumble a bit, and it turns out that, in fact this is all my fault:
There is a Smith in Ellettsville. Which also has a vet on it. And that is in fact the vet that I made my appointment at. Where it is impossible for me to go, because I don't have car access. Result? The vet here offers to try to fit me in (they ultimately fail) but they do check her over quickly. I have an actual appointment next Friday. I didn't get to ask about Jonie's sneezing, which has been dying down, and I do think I have figured out why she was coughing last night (I think she needed water, when I gave her some she stopped coughing...)...that's something. And she has worms. But they sold me some medicine, and told me almost all puppies get worms, so I guess that's okay. :)

Anyway, I'm oh-so-sleepy, waiting for [livejournal.com profile] saracaraid with a long day ahead.

However, the trip does give me an excuse to tackle one of my summer projects: reread, from the start, the Wheel of Time. Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment. But years of having to reread the series every two years finally frustrated me enough that I am now three books behind, and, well, by all accounts the most recent was actually pretty good. So I'm off! As if I actual need to read Eye of the World again, with how many times I've already done so...

Yay for figuring out the coughing. :)

Generally speaking, I've just let our dogs have a bowl which is constantly refilled with water. Jonie seems amazingly well house trained for her age, so it might not be a bad call....

It's true - I'd been picking up her water at about 7, but the time kept moving because I also pick it up when I leave...as an adult, I'll definitely leave water down 24/7, I'm just worried she'll drink loads right before bed, and increase the chances that I'll have to get out of bed at 4 or 5 in the morning to walk her. :)

heh, I'm in the same boat with the Wheel of Time. Looks like you have a bit more gumption to actually go through with it though. Maybe we should start a club, I think there's a couple others needing to read through it again too. Good luck!

I wonder how that club would work? :)

Good luck with the little one! And don't worry about the vet...having worked at a couple of different ones earlier on in my career, I can tell you that they get much weirder things than displaced appointments :)

Glad to hear that you're back! And also, good luck on rereading the Wheel of Time. I just started rereading A Song of Ice and Fire, but it is curently only 4 books long, so I don't have anywhere as far to go as you do...

Thanks. It made me feel a bit stupid, but otherwise it didn't seem to be that big a deal. I'm not that worried about it.

And I need to read the Martin's...
