Well, I want to do a real update, but I really haven't got the time. I'm still behind on the sewing (tomorrow is going to be a loooong day) though I'm almost done with the first layer, which is good, since it's the most important - I still need to finish at least one of the under skirts; if I don't have the other it's not the end of the world, which is something. Buffy tonight, which'll be fun - I've been trying to construct a back story throughout the day in little bits and pieces as I get the time, but I keep forgetting it because I don't have time to write it down, silly internship.

Anyway, the primary purpose of this post is: Can anyone help me with acquiring boxes?? Pretty please? Either lend me some, steal me some from jobs, or point me to where I can acquire some for free? I've already spoken to [livejournal.com profile] saracariad, and she can get me some from Borders, but, well, I need a lot so I thought I'd ask. I need at least 10 (probably more like 15) by the 31st of July. Any help would be appreciated.

Tally: 124 (including what I've done today so far)

Boxes

The recycling center on the south side of town has a big bin of reusable cardboard boxes that is refreshed nearly every day by people bringing new boxes to drop in it.

Failing that, Bryn and I might still have some from when I arrived in Bloomington.

I'm not sure I can get to the recycling center without inconveniencing someone, but I'll keep it in mind if I can find a ride - if you guys had any, that'd be spiffy. :) Thanks. :)

check your local grocery stores and inquire if you can have some boxes for moving. often times you can get them before they get crushed or stolen by other employees.

On this note Bloomingfoods almost always has intact boxes in the front of the store.

I can grab some from there, then - I thought of the grocery store thing, from when you used to work at Giant, [livejournal.com profile] mistress_sin, but I hadn't noticed any at Marsh or Kroger, but Bloomingfoods is very close to where I live, so that's pretty convenient.

Spiffy - are they a good size for books?

We have many sizes. Some are good for books, some are bigger and more beat up, would work best for clothes/yarn/other light stuff.

You're in luck: I have 11 empty book-size U-Haul boxes. And they're mostly brand-new, surplus from my last move. I'll want them back afterwards but I was planning to loan them to y'all anyway :)

I will definitely take you up on that. ;)

You have gotten several offers of boxes and help, but if those fall through try a liquor store. Their boxes are small but VERY sturdy, made for heavy bottles of booze and stuff. They sometimes have handles built into the sides, and they are IDEAL for packing books because you can't pack too much in one box because they are small.

Sweet, thanks for the advice. :)

Just think about it...you can buy lots of booze...and then keep the boxes for books...you win twice! :)

hmmm...maybe I should buy the boxes of booze and then hook ya up...good idea...:)

By the way - we've got some boxes and I'm pretty sure Alisha can get some more if necessary. Let me know.

Will do. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] schenker28 told me to call you, but I don't have your phone number.... :) Mine's 812 327 5880. That said, I'm not sure I'll actually need the van for the first move; all the stuff can be moved in a car (that's how it got here in the first place) and I don't mind doing a couple of runs if it saves everyone else some effort. :)

If you still need more boxes, I've got somewhere around 12 of the rubbermade plastic totes that I have for moving. You're more than welcome to them if you need them. This is Justin, by the way. ^^

Umm, I can't remember their volume dimensions offhand, but they're about 2.5'/1.5'/2.5'. they have made excellent book movers I've found.
