Doin' the General Update

Well, I'm trying to hold off on going to eat dinner until the movie I'm watching is done, but I don't actually want to start anything, so I thought, I'll do an update!!

As I already commented, Don Giovanni was pretty awesome. I'm really glad I went. I've never really liked Opera, and I have very little experience with it, and while I can't say I'm a 100% convert to the operatice way, I'm still glad I went, and look forward to going to see more. :)

Saturday was a busy day; I did a bunch of stuff around the house, did some baking, and then wandered over to [livejournal.com profile] moonzie's house warming. I wasn't able to stay long, unfortunately, but I got to go a little, which was nice. I'm really jealous of his bedroom, he's got an awesome four poster bed that apparently came from Big Lots - I intend to go and try to get one similar. It was really slick.

Meanwhile, the reason that I had to leave early from the housewarming was to go over to Mayghin's Call of Cthulhu game. I didn't really know much about what I was supposed to be playing until I got there, only that I was a socialite/philanthropist sort, but it ended up being pretty slick...I got to spend the evening trying to keep my character's two boyfriends from finding out that I was dating both of them...this culminated, amusingly, in one of them proposing to me, my accepting (because I thought the other boyfriend had reconciled with his ex), my going to tell the other that I'd just accepted a proposal, having HIM propose to me (AFTER he found out...)...me deciding, well, we might all die tonight! and saying yes to both of them...well, it was fun. Unfortunately, I died...I almost made it, too, my "I REFUSE to leave this couch" approach worked better than I thought it would, actually. Damn zombies. Damn [livejournal.com profile] feyangel. :) Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and I'm very glad I played, and I look forward to Mayghin's third Cthulhu game, cause I am soooo there.

I met up with [livejournal.com profile] buzzermccain on Sunday morning and got some breakfast...due to unfortunately chance, we missed [livejournal.com profile] akashiver, who we were supposed to be meeting. I felt reallly bad. :( After that, I wandered over to Joann's to get some stuff for my halloween and Changeling costumes - thank god, the Halloween costume cost a LOT less than the Changeling one, only about $50 for all of the materials and such...now I just need to somehow have the time to make it all....sigh.

Headed, then, over to Aberrant. I felt special, I accomplished something. ;) It was pretty fun. I surprised myself by being in no way irritated by the fact that the pharoah screwed us...normally, turns of events of that sort rather bother me, but I don't know, I was largely satisfied...maybe it's cause I know there wasn't much I could do about it, and at least I accomplished my primary goal...not sure.

After that, [livejournal.com profile] feyangel and I went and got dinner so that we could play out a scene for the BHSS scene...it was one of the better scenes I've played in recent memory, it was sooooo much fun to play out my character getting, well, totally tortured and completely screwed by the damned Tremere. I was especially pleased with how she ran stuff - rather than going with gruesome, which I probably couldn't have RPed that well, since, well, it's hard to know how to have a character act in regards to such things, she went with truth serum and other mind-fuck type things. I won't go into more detail, since those who play that game do read this LJ at least sometimes. ;)

Finally, I wandered back to the Aberrant game, and [livejournal.com profile] buzzermccain and I started to have some talk in Changeling, but we kept getting distracted and wandering on to other topics. :) We have a bunch to talk about. Yes, I know we're dead. Screw you all. ;)

This week has been fairly uneventful so far. I've been doing LOTS of school work, trying to get a handle on stuff...assignments keep taking longer than I expect them to, though, which is frustrating to say the least. Monday night I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] closet_gnome and watched the third DVD of Firefly. I like Firefly. I don't think I fanatically love Firefly, but I'm generally enjoying it, and am sad that it's going to be a bit yet before I can go and see the fourth/last DVD.

I had mentioned plans for dinner this coming Monday. My mother will be in town, and, well, I think my mom is pretty cool, and she likes meeting my friends, so anyone who thinks they might want some yummy food should come and join us.
What: Dinner!
When: Monday, October 9th. 8 PM
Where: Longhorn Steakhouse
Who: Me, my mom, and anyone else who feels like coming
Why: Cause she's in town and wants to meet folk

Anyway, I'm off - the movie just ended, and I'm hungry. :)

Sorry I missed the opera. Stupid interview...

Glad to hear that you're having fun with your games! And with your costumes. I need to learn to really sew one of these days!

Don't know that I will be able to make it to dinner with your mom, unfortunately, but I'll let you know if things change! And have fun with her while she is here :)

(And four poster beds rule. I had a Strawberry Shortcake one when I was quite small.)

I could teach you to sew sometime; it's really not terribly hard, as long as you have a little bit of a sense of how things fit together in three dimensions, or your good at following directions even when you don't think they make much sense. ;)
It'd be awesome if you could make it to dinner, but don't worry about it too much if you can't.
And I definitely want a nice bed. Rather than a crappy old mattress on the floor. ;)

I can still do Monday, but I'm probably going to drop out of The Birthday Party in favor of a real one.
