Mom arrived safe and sound; I was late to get her and felt like a jerk. She didn't seem to mind, though...Did a bunch of singing, which was way fun.

Planning to go to a thing at the Wiley House around 11-12ish, then head over to Lotus Fest stuff over in the 3rd Street Park. Probably going to see the Pinter tonight, but mom's way interested in Lotus, if she's feeling up to it we may do that instead, and see the play later this week.

Looks like by and large I'm going to be too busy to check this stuff much (probably about once a day, don't ask how much I normally check it... ;) ) so if anyone needs me they should call (812 327 5880)

Remember, dinner Monday! 8 PM! Longhorn! If anyone needs a lift, let me know...

Oh, and if people know of any really cool places to go within a half hour of here, or want to recommend any restaurants, that'd be nice. I have some ideas, but I wouldn't mind having more. ("Cool" can be pretty loosely defined, by the by... :) )

Edit: Thanks for the advice all! (though more is also always appreciated... ;) ) ...we are going to go to Lotus Tonight. ;) We'll be at the Klesmir folk at 7PM, and we're going to see Beat Box and the Irish Traditional folk at 10ish...not sure what else. ;) We'll go to the play later this week. (I'll post when)

Hi HOney!!

Heather D took me and Hubby to Casa Brava on Thursday and it IS the best Mexican restaurant in town. Like wow!! Across the street from JoAnn's a few doors up from the Kroger.

Also Le Petite Cafe just a block off the square downtown is my Hubby's favorite restaurant.

And 4th Streeet behind Dunkirk Square is loaded with ethnic restaurants of all sorts.

I doubt I can make Monday night but do send my regards to your mom. :)

Thanks for the restaurant advice! I've been to Casa Brava, it is pretty yummy, though I'm not a big fan of Mexican myself... ;)
I'll tell her you said hi!

Your mom might like the yarn store in the Fountain Square Mall. And I bet she'd enjoy the Lilly Library. :)

Butler Winery is also pretty cool; the tasting room is in town, and the winery is a ways out of town, along lots of back roads (that have signs for the winery), and on weekends they serve food--sandwiches and the like--in addition to wine tasting.

The Mathers Museum and IU Art Museums are also pretty nice, and right on campus...And the Lilly would be nice, too. You might also ask if you can bring her in to the ALF and show her around, since you work there! It's a pretty interesting place, at least for bibliophiles :)

Have fun this week!

Thanks! Those are all excellent places that I am hoping to hit with her...I have permission to take her to the ALF already (in fact, when I told them that I was going to be missing work because my mom was in town, they told me to bring her in. ;) They're nice people...)

Singing was indeed fun! However, my camera was in the crappy "blur-all-the-photos" mode -- I was suspicious something was going wrong but forgot to check that dial -- so make sure to take plenty more photos!

Tell your mom hi -- it was great to meet her!

No worries about the pictures...mom is sad that we won't be doing lots more singing, though she wants to do more and I expect we will do some, but without, you know, awesome piano accompaniment...I think I'm spoiled, cause that just doesn't seem right somehow...

Aw shucks, thanks. :) But hey, you should force saracariad to practice playing more for singing! It would be good for her!

I think this is only Sunday mornings, so it might be a bit late.... but I was going to suggest the Tibetian cultural center, to watch/listen to some monk-action. I've been to a couple ceremonial Tibetian things (but not in Bloomignton yet) and they were amazing. Especially the double-note throat singing!

lol as it turns out, we heard throat singing at Lotus last night and thought it was totally awesome. :)
