So every number of years, I start thinking about cutting my hair short. The last time was in the Spring of 2001, and before that in 1995. But apparently it's come again. However, it's a big decision, it takes years for my hair to grow back if I cut it short (about 4 years to get it back to it's current length, maybe 3). So here's the question I want opinions from ya'll on:

Should I cut my hair short?

Short is about chin length - not long enough for a pony tail.

I want to hear what you think, and why! :)

(I'm leaning heavily towards cutting it, though I can't say why...)

I thing it might be a nice change, and you can always grow it back. Go for it!

Dunno. It's a tough question, since I've never seen you with short hair.

That said, it's sort of the position that I'd be in if I ever cut my hair short. Very few of my friends remember what I looked like with short hair, as I've had the current length for about eleven or twelve years. Heck, Bryn hasn't even seen me with short hair.

That said, if you feel like it, go for it. As [livejournal.com profile] nekomata said, it'll grow back....

There are a few people who read this LJ who've known me with short hair - [livejournal.com profile] deadmanwade, [livejournal.com profile] bakanekotoo, [livejournal.com profile] mistress_sin and [livejournal.com profile] ultimabaka ...

Still, I think "I can't really think of a good reason not to and I kind of feel like doing it" is the only reason why I've got, too. :)

If you feel like doing it, you should do it. You'll come up with a reason eventually, or you won't, but if it's something you want to do then you'll probably be happy with it.

(In other words, whenever i've cut off or grown out my hair i've just sort of wanted to do it, and it's always worked well for me. Reasons are for other people, and they don't have to wear your hair.)

what K8 said. Personally, I likes it long, but I'm not the person who matters. Unless you're trying to seduce me.

You should really wear it loose more often. I much prefer it long, but you rarely take advantage of it. A little trimming, some product and rraaawwwrrr.

Oh, and everyone you know in Bloomington goes to Brandi, just about. (Seriously. Mention 90% of the gamers to her.) She may still be taking appointments (she's about a month out from having a baby). Her number is 360-2758; if she doesn't answer, leave her a message and she'll get back to you.

A bit of a trim might be good for job searching, but whether or not to go all the way . . . if you do, go to a really good hair person to get a really stylish cut.

I missed my long hair, but the shortish hair looks more professional.

Yeah, I was thinking in part of how cute you look with short hair as I was considering this...

As someone who also gets random urges to do things to her hair (cut it, dye it, dye it outrageous colors), I understand the urge. If you want to do the change, now is the time. Makes it easier to blow dry or air dry so it doesn't freeze or cause you to get a cold while out in the winter weather. And it should be long enough for a ponytail by the time warmer weather returns. Plus you get those weird "who IS that?" moments as you catch your reflection over hte next couple of days.

lol....I haven't had the "who is that?" moment in ages...not since the black hair last Feb.

I think you have a lovely face for short hair!

Here are some longer short hairstyles:

But I think you'd look adorable with one of the new pixie cuts.

Also, really long hair doesn't really do much for anybody, in my opinion. It just kind of hangs there, or is worn back in an unflattering ponytail. I've always found it a curious vanity, considering how much better most people look with their hair cut/shaped/layered into some kind of style.

Those hair cuts are so cute!! I've been trying to decide just how short to go - I've never had my hair as short as any of those pics, but I'm seriously considering it - I've wondered how I'd look with boy-length hair for ages, and so I was considering just going for it and figuring at worst it'd grow out again. :)

I think the trick to keeping a feminine look with short hair is to keep lippie on hand, even if it's just tinted gloss. Heaps of women look stunning in short hair, and I'm sure that nobody looks at them and thinks "boy hair" - don't worry about that. :-)

I say go for it! When I cut my long hair short (I went from long to medium, and then to short, and then to REALLY short) I got kind of addicted to the sassy, high energy feeling that short hair brings about. It's transformative!

You would look good either way. I wouldn't do it, because I did when I was a college freshman and I've never been able to get my hair to that length again; something to do with the way my hair has changed as I've aged. But that's my hair, and not yours! And I think your hair is beautiful right now, but if it's what you want to do, go for it! I think it would look cute either way.

If you want a stylist recommendation, I have one that I really like that I go to, but he is out at the Finishing Touch in Columbus (IN) which is a rather long way to drive. But I'll be happy to pass along his contact info if you want. I actually don't think he's taking new clients right now, but his brother is, and his brother is just as good....

Hmm...yeah, I've considered the "will it ever grow out again?" question - you're not the only person I know who has had that problem...I know from the past that every time I've cut it short it has come back, but I'm still a little worried.
And I'll consider the rec - I'm gonna check with the lady that [livejournal.com profile] gollumgollum mentioned cause I know a lot of people really like her...

I wouldn't. I think you would look cute with short hair, but I also think that you have unusually gorgeous hair and it would be a shame to waste it. Also, it is true that it probably won't grow as long again- mine used to be long enough to sit on, and it really doesn't grow much past my waist any more.

I agree. I mean, do what you want with your hair, but know it is highly likely it will never grow this long again. I used to have sitting-on hair. Now people tell me, "gosh, your hair is getting long!" and it blows my mind because I think it's still so short. And I can't get it to grow much longer than this anyway. I wish I could grow my hair out to a length like, say, Bryn's, but it will never happen - all because I chopped it off shoulder-length short in the first place.
Be warned. *shrug*

I say don't cut it unless you let me do it for you. I love cutting hair, and I have some thoughts. But I just wanted to be contrary to popular opinion.
But hey, since I'm your roommate, I'm the one who's got to look at ya every day. ;)

Girl hair is a big turn-on for me, as long as it's not toooo short. I tend to think girls with short boy-length cuts look pretty much like boys. But a little big longer (say somewhere between super-short and shoulder-length) and it's sexy again. But that's a matter of personal taste. You have beautiful hair, so I think you might as well keep enough of it around to look feminine.
